Haiti - Insecurity : Again and again... 29/10/2010 19:38:17
Yesterday, in the Central Market of Cap Haitien, a 16 year old girl was stabbed to death by a man. After his crime, the suspect sought refuge in the sub-police station in Barriere Bouteille and was then transferred to the central police station in Cap Haitien, where he is under preventive detention. Today, the parents of the victim set on fire some goods in the market. The fire was eventually contolled by the firemen along with the HNP and UNPOL. Yesterday morning, right in Downtown of Cap Haitien, a Minustah patrol was pelted with stones and glass bottles by a hostile crowd. The patrol had to fire several warning gunshots to the air and anti-riot grenades. A military Quick Reaction Team (QRT) was dispatched to support the patrol. However, when the QRT arrived the crowd had already dispersed. One Minustah blue helmet was slightly injured to the face. A 34 year-old male was apprehended and handed-over to the HNP. The motive of the aggression is still unknown. Yesterday around 12:10pm, in front of the Lycée Soficat in Tabarre, an 18 year-old male was kidnapped by unidentified suspects. A ransom has been demanded to the family that has lodged a claim before the Judicial Police-Anti Kidnapping Cell (DCPJ-CCE Direction centrale de la police judiciaire / Cellule Contre Enlèvements). Yesterday at Montagne des Oliviers in Carrefour Feuilles, a body of a man in his thirties was found. The body showed sign of gun shots and knife cuts. Today in the morning, another body, that of an unidentified man was found in downtown Port-au-Prince near the cathedral to the street Monseigneur Guilloux Prolonge. The two bodies were transported to the morgue HUEH for legal proceedings. See also: https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-1534-haiti-insecurity-the-situation-in-the-metropolitan-area.html HL/ HaitiLibre
