Haiti - Security : Inauguration of the new headquarters of CIMO

Wednesday, President Michel Martelly in the presence of among others of Prime Minister Evans Paul, of Minister of Justice and Public Security, Pierre Richard Casimir and the Director General of the National Police of Haiti, Godson Orélus, proceeded to the inauguration of the new headquarters of the Corps of Intervention and Maintenance of Order (CIMO) located at Delmas 2.

"It is with a feeling of the work accomplished that I take pleasure to proceed with the inauguration of this beautiful building [...] I ask each agent to take care of this new premises which is a symbol of pride for all of you and a proof that I kept the promises I made to you [at the ceremony marking the 18 years of the CIMO, February 13, 2014 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10533-haiti-security-18th-anniversary-of-cimo-and-a-new-hq-under-construction.html ]," President Martelly said, noting that this building reflects the new face that his administration wants to give this specialized unit of the National Police.

Adding "This new base of CIMO, participates in my ambition to strengthen our rule of law by establishing a strong Police, effective and prestigious. A police that penetrated of thical standards and principles governing its conduct inspires confidence, while ensuring the public peace in full respect of the Constitution and Law."

The construction works of the new headquarters lasted nine months, and have been funded to the tune of 4.2 million US dollars from the public treasury. The work was done by Dominican firm Ingenieria Estrella and the subcontractor Codelpa under the supervision of the Housing Construction and Public Buildings Unit (UCLBP).

The building with a total area of 1,500 m2 spread over 3 levels and built on a plot of about 5,500 m2. At the first level are arranged two sanitary facilities, a large gym and a shooting range. The Administration of Police Force is on the second level, alongside other developed areas, are the commanders offices, the library, the archives, the reception room and the secretariat. The third level is the dormitories which can accommodate about 400 agents.

The construction is also subject to other facilities, including a courtyard with several lawns, cafeteria, playgrounds, internal roads and parking area with a capacity of over 30 vehicles.

Then with Prime Minister Paul he unveiling the inaugural plaque of the headquarters of CIMO and delivered a speech.
