![]() Haiti - Culture : Benefit concert for the centenary of guitarist Frantz Casséus 22/11/2015 10:41:30
It is in Port-au-Prince that the American guitarist Marc Ribot will celebrate the centenary of his mentor. For this second in Haiti, he will be accompanied by the Italian guitarist Marco Cappelli. Together, they will first give master classes at the Holy Trinity Music School under the program for young guitarists Frantz Casséus. Created in January 2011 at the initiative of Marc Ribot, in collaboration with the Holy Trinity School of Music and Caracoli association, the program for young guitarists Frantz Casséus proposes to support the teaching of the classical guitar to young Haitians and keeping alive the memory of Frantz Casséus. More concretely, for four years, it has allowed 40 students aged 7-22 years old, started learning classical guitar. The program is supported by the Holy Trinity Music School, the company Haitiana Music managing the rights of the works of Frantz Casséus, fundraising made by Marc Ribot, and the contribution of companies of Addario and Albert Augustine LTD for the material. The fundraising concert for the program of young guitarists Casséus Frantz, will see the exceptional participation of Marc Ribot and Marco Cappelli, that of the chamber orchestra of Holy Trinity and other Haitian artists who will perform the works of Casséus. He spent most of his adult life in New York, United States, where he died June 21, 1993. Casséus was the first professor of American guitarist Marc Ribot who played an important role in the preservation of musical heritage of Frantz Casséus. Among these efforts, Ribot made editing a collection of partitions of the guita compositions of Casséus, and recorded a CD of these works in December 1993, under the label "Les Disques du Crépuscule".
