Haiti - Elections : Commission of Inquiry, No is no... 01/12/2015 10:28:28
Monday, at a press conference, Pierre Louis Opont, the President of the Provisional Electoral Council, reiterated once again that despite the demands of the G8 members and other political actors, that he qualifies as bad loser, of establishment of a Commission of Inquiry to verify all the Minutes, he will not access to this demand, there will be no commission of inquiry. He explained for the umpteenth time for intended of these politicians, there is no legal provision in the Electoral Decree to establish such a Commission. Recalling that the verification work had already been done at the Tabulation Center Votes (CTV) by decision of the Office of the National Litigation (BCEN), last and final legal recourse available to challengers. Regarding street protests and repeated protests in the media, including through the G8 and Fanmi Lavalas, this is for him a poisoning campaign aiming to serve the political interests of the parties concerned. He said he was determined to set a course for the second round, despite the criticism and challenges. Furthermore he revealed that several advisers of the CEP, due to threats against them, no longer slept at home, fearing for their lives. See also SL/ HaitiLibre
