Haiti - Politic : Mirlande Manigat satisfied with the G8 position

Tuesday, in a statement, Mirlande Manigat Secretary General of the "Rally of Progressive National Democrats" (RDNP) said she is satisfied with the position of the G8, recalling that she had predicted this situation 8 months ago and is willing to serve the Republic to put the country back on the rails of the Rule of Law.

Position of Mirlande Manigat :

"We have read with satisfaction but not surprisingly, the position of the G-8 in its news release dated November 29 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15922-haiti-news-electoral-zapping.html

Also, we welcome the courage of our compatriots in this difficult situation that, have chosen the right path, putting the national interest above their legitimate ambitions.

In April and May 2015, we published two texts under the headings 'What I believe' https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14809-haiti-elections-mirlande-manigat-outraged-and-disgusted-by-the-electoral-masquerade.html and 'What I still believe' https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13978-haiti-tourism-success-of-the-58th-meeting-of-the-wtoa.html in which we expressed our concerns about the competence of the CEP to organize "free, fair, democratic and inclusive" elections, as it likes to repeat constantly, a way of exorcising its incompetence by this incantation in which nobody believed.

At the same time, we proposed the formation of a transitional government whose main task would be, after fundamental reforms like the overhaul of the Constitution, to hold good elections.

Eight months later, the facts have proved us right. The gravity of the situation, however, does not invite us to triumphalism. We thought it was time to stop this drift that is similar now to the establishment of unprecedented dynasty. This necessarily involves a meeting between the political forces in order to reach consensus, the widest possible around :

a) The formation of the Transitional Government;

b) The duration;

c) Its content and its mission;

Us of RDNP, party founder member of the Patriotic Resistance Space, we are willing to serve the Republic to put the country on track of the Rule of Law, of respect for human rights and civil liberties, honesty in State management.

Port-au-Prince, on 1 December 2015.

For the National Executive Council

Mirlande Manigat, Secretary General"
