Haiti - Elections : The EU is committed to continue its support to the electoral process

The European Union has taken note of the recommendations https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16231-haiti-elections-the-recommendations-of-the-commission-of-electoral-evaluation.html formulated by the Independent Electoral Commission of Evaluation this Sunday, January 3rd.

It is now essential that the process goes to an end in order to provide the country with legitimate political institutions that reflect the choice of citizens freely expressed at the polls.

The evaluation conducted by the Commission has identified a number of irregularities which, without having challenged the results of the first round, call for corrective action for the next presidential election. It is now up to the CEP and other Haitian authorities concerned to ensure the implementation of measures to increase transparency and confidence of the electorate for the purpose of holding the second round of the presidential election in compliance with constitutional deadlines.

In accordance with its commitments, the EU is determined to continue its support to the electoral process and to continue to accompany the different phases, through its Election Observation Mission and the recommendations and analyzes made by the latter.
