Haiti - Elections : A commando of INITE sows terror in Jacmel 13/11/2010 09:40:51 Yves Rabel, coordinator in the Southeast, for the party "Ansanm nou fò" was manhandled and threatened by a group of heavily armed individuals, led by Senator Joseph Lambert. Some of these individuals are clearly identified as supporters of INITE. During a press conference held Friday, Yves Rabel accompanied by Content Wilnet, parliamentary candidate for the First District of Jacmel, denounced the banditry acts of the partisans of INITE they were victims. Yves Rabel, said these people, well armed, were joined by Sen. Joseph Lambert, and proceeded to the destruction of posters and banners of some other candidates, including candidate Hyppolite Manigat, and candidates Charles Henri Backer, Jean Henri Céant, Leslie Voltaire, Fequière Mathurin and Content Wilnet and replace them with those of Jude Celestin. "Having heard the news, we immediately went to portail Léogâne, to note the facts[...]while arriving at the scene, we saw a group of people equipped with heavy weapons and handguns that tore posters under the command of Senator Lambert" When we arrived, Senator Lambert asked them to act, the commandos began firing into the air and throwing rocks and bottles on the vehicle of campaign of "Ansanm new fo". Mr. Rabel points finger the senator Lambert who gave the order to his commando to pass to the action. He qualified of vagrancy, intimidation and provocation the behavior of the close relations of platform INITE vis-à-vis other candidates in the elections of 28 November. For his part, Content Wilnet, indicated that a complaint had been deposited against these individuals and Platform INITE in the evening at the police in Jacmel. "We met with representatives of CARICOM and the MINUSTAH about it." In addition, candidates for deputies of the Party Ansanm nou fò, has announced that it intended to bring an legal action and at the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) against Platform INITE. Caricom and the OAS will continue to announce that the elections will be free and honest democratic, while evidently, the police (including MINUSTAH) does not seem to have the ability to ensure safety of candidates during the campaign period. How in this case, can they ensure the safety of voters at the next election to be held in 15 days ? Wilnet Content pleads in favor of a new way of doing the politic in the department of Sud-Est, where the drug, trafficking and corruption reign, in particular in Jacmel. Let us recall that at the time of the electoral campaign of the legislative elections of 2009, Mackenson Zelou, a 25 year old young man, was shot dead in the town of Les Cayes, Jacmel, by supporters of the party LESPWA. One year after the justice has still not been made.
