Haiti - Social : Disorder and chaos in the binational market of Dajabón
Friday 8:00 am, Dajabón, the border has opened its gates, as expected to allow traders and Haitian clients to come, buy and sell on the market. Thousands of Haitians flocked across the border and despite the heightened security, established by the Dominican army, in anticipation of this reopening, the soldiers were quickly overwhelmed.

The normal area of the market, restricted by the authorities to allow better health control has become a true chaos. The market was held amid the cries of women and insults against the security forces CESFRONT responsible for monitoring and trying to maintain order

Despite the deployment of health facilities, most health measures implemented by the Dominicans have been violated, a large number of Haitians refuse to wash their hands upon their arrival in the Dominican Republic.

Miguel Tatis, Mayor of Dajabón stated that if a solution was not reached soon, the city refuse in the future, to organize this market. He explained that the rules of restriction of trade in Haiti had not been respected and that traders had circumvented the controls and hygiene measures in place to fight against the introduction of cholera into Dominican territory. "With the huge number of people in the market, there is no guarantee of safety for local Dominicans merchants" stressing the muddy ground and the disregard of the restrictions.

These overflows may unfortunately increase the repression and controls against our compatriots in the border or worse, the Dominican government could close the border for an indefinite period. A solution to the dramatic consequences, which circulates increasingly in the neighboring country.
