Haiti - ALERT : Alcohol adulterated, death toll rises to 22 27/02/2016 10:16:27
In a note dated Friday, February 26, Dr. Georges Dubuche, Director General of the Ministry of Public Health and Population "urges the population to be extremely vigilant following the 22 cases of institutional deaths, possibly related to the ingestion of adulterated alcohol, which were recorded in the commune of Port-au-Prince "[since Sunday, February 21 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16704-haiti-flash-adulterated-clairin-at-least-10-dead.html ].
He informs that samples of the alcohol are being analyzed in the laboratory and that efforts are underway, jointly with the Ministries of Justice and Commerce, to find the causes and responsible for the deaths as well as the risk factors associated with this situation.
"The Department of Health urges the public not to panic and encourage all citizens to take precautions to safeguard their lives and those of their families."
