Haiti - Politic : Less than 19% women in ministerial cabinet 26/03/2016 11:23:27 Natacha Clergé, General Coordinator of "Fanm yo la" says she read with surprise the composition of the ministerial cabinet and found non-compliance with the 30% quota of women in the new government which includes 16 ministers appointed for 18 ministries (two ministers with a 2nd the Ministry Acting) and only 3 women less than 19% representation. Petit-Frère also Minister a.i of Haitians Living Abroad ; Minister for Women and Women's Rights, Marie Denise Claude (Senate Candidate under FUSION, then for INITE of René Préval, she joined the MOPOD in its fight against the President Martelly) ; In its note "Fanm yo la" recalls that "On March 8, 2016, the international day of women's rights, the President Jocelerme Privert encouraged 'all sectors to work towards the implementation of this constitutional requirement, marking the irreversible entry of our people in the democratic progress and emancipation'. The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Hon Cholzer Chancy and the President of the Commission Rights of Women and Gender Equity, the honorabe Micalerme Pierre, both reaffirmed their willingness to act to enforce the constitutional requirements in matter of women's rights. Today, at least 10 days of April 3, National Day of the movement of Haitian women, it is inconceivable that the new government does not have at least 6 women out of 18 Ministersthat compose it. Indeed, the 1987 Constitution amended in section 17.1 makes obligation to the Haitian government to ensure the participation of at least 30% women in all spheres of national life, including the political spaces and decision making." Note that Article 17.1 of the Constitution does not make explicitly "Obligation on the State" but recognizes the principle of the quota of 30% women. Article 17. : The principle of quota of at least thirty percent (30%) of women is recognized at all levels of national life, especially in public services.
