Haiti - Elections : Four candidates ask the postponement of elections
At 8 days of voting in Haiti, four candidates involved in the presidential race, asked in a letter sent to elctoral authorities, a postponement of the elections, while the country faces to an epidemic of cholera that has claimed more than 1,100 dead.

Josette Bijou, Gérard Blot, Garaudy Laguerre and Wilson Jeudy, candidates scored badly in the polls (not to say losers), ask the authorities to postpone the election and publish a plan to fight against the cholera epidemic that threatens the lives of all Haitians. For star candidates in the polls, the postponement of elections is not at the agenda, even if several recognize openly, that the conditions are not ideal for holding these elections.

Without speaking of a postponement of the poll, Yvon Neptune presidential candidate, asks "The government must give us clear indications instead of leaving everyone in limbo. What guarantee do we have that elections can be held in the current context ?" He recalled that the Ministry of Health had disadvised, at the beginning of the epidemic, political rallies in places where the highly contagious disease, had developed.

This request for postponement has no chance of changing the election date, however, at 8 days of voting, rumors of postponement persist, the population is divided and some countries are beginning to express their doubt. Let us not forget that in Haiti everything is possible and there remain 8 days... Let us wish nevertheless, that these elections will be held (in the best conditions possible, considering the situation), with adequate participation of the electorate, to ensure the legitimacy of the future government and reassure the international community.
