Haiti - Economy : The textile sector dialogue table, calls for calm

In a note, the textile sector dialogue table explains its position following the incidents of May 11 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-17424-haiti-economy-thousands-of-textile-workers-took-to-the-streets.html "While recognizing the right of all parties to claim on certain points that are affected, we can not support acts of violence that would be detrimental to the freedom of everyone conducting business according to his choice.

[...] The social dialogue table calls for calm and reason to all parties pending the publication of the decree fixing minimum wages in Le Moniteur as shown in the press note of May 12 2016 of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-17503-haiti-news-zapping-politics.html https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-17492-icihaiti-economy-new-minimum-wage-imminent-publication.html

Let's protect the jobs we have now and whose the trend is rising again this year so that this sector continues to grow for the welfare of the Haitian nation."

Learn more about the dialogue table :

Let's recall that on March 27, 2014, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the private sector and workers operating in the textile sector in the presence of national and international observers in order to create a dialogue table where both parties in accordance and mutual tolerance can express themselves in compliance with national laws and international standards to the benefit of all.

Since the signing of this document, an Executive Secretariat, assures the monitoring and organizes monthly plenary meetings with representatives of employers and workers to discuss of different news theme relevant to the area (minimum wage, social protection and security, grant etc...)
