Haiti - Politic : The Executive, relented before the deputies

The absence of funds allocated to communal funds, in the amending budget is the source of a standoff between the Lower House and the Executive and successive postponements https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-17497-haiti-politic-second-postponement-of-the-national-assembly-in-3-days.html which have so far prevented the holding in National Assembly of the extraordinary session convened on May 17 by President a.i. Privert. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-17441-haiti-flash-privert-convene-parliamentarians-to-the-extraordinary.html

Recall that under the second term of Preval, the deputies obtained 5 million gourdes by communes. Credit extensively revised up under the Government Martelly to 10 million gourdes per commune per year.

On Wednesday, the Government Jean-Charles finally relented and decided to allocate 5 million gourdes on the 10 million claimed by commune. This agreement should allow parliamentarians to open the extraordinary session that will be devoted to the review and vote : of the Draft of the Amending Finance Act 2015-2016; the Draft Penal Code; the Draft Code of Criminal Procedure; the Draft law on electronic commerce; the Bill establishing the Commune of Montrouis; the Proposal for a framework law on decentralization; the Bill on organization and functioning of the Ministry of the Environment; and the Law proposal creating a basic public service in communal sections.
