Friday, Jean Beauvois Dorsonne, the Minister of National Education (MENFP) proceeded to the inauguration of the National School of Lafond, 1st communal section of Bas Cap-Rouge (Department Southeast), in the presence Lionel Bonhomme, the departmental Director of Education, of Éliccel Paul, Chief of Staff of Minister, of executives of the Ministry, of representatives of the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES), of Jean Mary Jean-Baptiste, the Director of this new institution, the authorities and members of the local community, students and parents.

As part of the program to support the implementation of the sectoral plan for education and educational reform in Haiti, this new school infrastructure, financed by the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB) to the tune of 900,000 dollars under supervision as prime contractor of the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) is intended to facilitate access for disadvantaged children in the region to quality education.

These modern buildings fully equipped and fully furnished, built in compliance with seismic standards, include: 2 classrooms for preschool, 9 classrooms for basic education, an administrative building, a teachers' room and two sanitary blocks.

In his speech, the Minister Dorsonne said "I am delighted to see your community acquire this infrastructure, which will allow teachers to do their work in better conditions, which will facilitate better learning for children." In addition, he drew the attention of parents, students and teachers on the need to maintain and make good use of this new school infrastructure. Recalling that it belongs to the community to play its watchdog role for the protection and safeguarding of the institution and ensure the perenniality of services over time.

In his words of circumstance, Lucien Francoeur, General Director of FAES said "Today we proceed with the inauguration of the National School of Lafond for the benefit of Southeast children, in the coming days, we will continue inaugurations in other parts of the country."
