Steven Benoit withdraws

Senator Steven Benoit, presidential candidate under the banner of the Platform "Konviksyon" [arrived 8th with 17.851 votes, 1.14% of the electorate], member of the G8, said that he would not participate in the next presidential election, saying he will give its full support to the candidate that the G-8 will designate to represent him at these elections.

Towards a single candidate for the G8 ?

Information suggests that at the approach of presidential elections on 9 October the G8 could nominate a single candidate. Note that two of its members have withdrawn from electoral competition (Steven Benoit and Charles Henri Baker) and a rumor circulates to the effect that Moïse Jean-Charles will not make alliance with the G8 and would run under the banner "Pitit Dessalin". The G8 should infor mof its decision this weekend.

Maryse Narcisse will be in the competition

Maryse Narcisse, presidential candidate for the Fanmi Lavalas has indicated that she would confirm her candidacy recalling that Fanmi Lavalas has always expressed its willingness to participate in free, fair and democratic elections.

500,000 potential new voters

The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) decided in its new schedule to reopen the electoral list which will allow nearly 500,000 potential new voters to register on the electoral lists.

Charles Henri Baker abandons

In a letter dated 8 June addressed to Léopold Berlanger President of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) Charles Henri Baker, former presidential candidate under the banner of the party "Respe" [arrived 24th with 2,784 votes, 018% of the electorate ] and member of the G8, officially announced his withdrawal from the electoral race "[...] The candidate for the Presidency of the party who participated several times in the said electoral contests and seeing that CEP takes no valid measure to ensure compliance with the vote of the Haitian citizen asks you to remove its name from the list of those who will participate in the upcoming presidential elections [...]"

Doubt on the session National Assembly

Doubts loom over the realization of the session in National Assembly for the opening of the next parliamentary session. Senator Andris Riché propose a dialogue between the three branches of government to reach an agreement on the governance of the country as we approach the June 14

Jude Célestin confirm its candidacy

Gérald Germain, the campaign manager of candidate Jude Célestin of the "Alternative League for Progress and the Haiti Empowerment" (LAPEH) said its candidate will confirm his candidacy "There is no doubt about that. We will confirm our participation in the elections scheduled for 9 October [...] all the battle led by Jude Célestin had only one objective: the organization of credible, democratic and inclusive elections."
