Haiti - FLASH : 130,000 Haitians in DR are approaching the end of their regularization 13/06/2016 09:52:33
Friday General Rubén Darío Paulino Sem, Director of the Dominican Immigration reported that the migratory regularization card (non-resident) to live and work for one year in the Dominican Republic, that received more than 130,000 Haitian immigrants beneficiaries of the National Plan for Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE), due to expire on July 18, 2016. He specifies that 130,000 Haitians concerned will have to go before 18 July at the office of General Directorate of Immigration, located at the Heroes Centre of ational District, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to conclude the formalities to legalize their immigration status in the country. Haitian provided with their regularization card, should submit the documents missing in their file, give a certificate of non-penal antecedent, undergo a medical examination and make a payment of 14,000 pesos as cost of their temporary stay. This indispensable step before July 18 can lead to two situations: obtaining legal status to reside in the Dominican Republic or be deported if the criteria are not filled. After the expiry of the 12 months covered by this card, the holders of this document are automatically in a condition of illegality and liable to expulsion, recalled the General Rubén Darío Paulino Sem.
