Haiti - Elections : The United Nations and the international community call for calm
The United Nations and the international community expressed their deep concern at the numerous incidents that marred the elections this Sunday, November 28, 2010.

The United Nations and the international community urge the population and all political actors to remain calm, noting that a possible deterioration of the security in the country will have dramatic consequences on the immediate casualties of the cholera epidemic.

A showdown is now under way between the Préval Government and the rest of the political class. Massive fraud and irregularities in the electoral process have faulted the international community. "We have not seen come these frauds yet planned" said a senior official of Minustah who wished to remain anonymous.

Analysts now wonder about the impact of this new mobilization, the result of gross irregularities in the voting process on Sunday, which could lead to a new political crisis with a possible showdown between candidates and voters protest in front of Provisional Electoral Council. An elections judged fraudulent by the candidates and voters and national observers.
