Haiti - FLASH : The Dominican Government could aid the Haitians ?
More than 140,000 Haitians whose temporary migrant regularization card for a period of one year, issued by the Dominican Government, is due to expire between July 17 and December 2016 and are unable to renew this document because they are not able to obtain a passport from the Haitian government for more than two years... https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-17989-haiti-dominican-republic-the-haitian-government-says-anything.html Without the renewal of this card, they risk deportation to Haiti https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-17947-haiti-flash-140-000-haitians-facing-deportation-because-of-the-inaction-of-haiti.html

Given the difficulties of the Haitian Government to provide its citizens the documentation requested and paid, despite numerous promises never fulfilled, the Dominican Government could come to the aid of our compatriots, with a one-year extension to allow foreigners concerned who joined the National Program for Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE), but have not been able to file all the required documents to regularize their situation by providing the missing documents.

If this measure is approved, it will benefit 143,000 foreigners (nearly 70% of the registered to PNRE) who obtained a temporary migrant regularization card for a period of one year. Recall that another group has a temporary permit for two years, having been able to fulfill all requirements of the Dominican government and have registered with their passports.

"We are studying with migration and the presidency a project to see if we are going to extend for one year the cards at no charge for foreigners," revealed José Ramón Fadul, the Minister of Interior and the police who said that the final decision will be announced in the coming days by the Dominican government.
