Haiti - Social : Lynchings in series, at least 14 victims...
In the department of Grand'Anse, the population appears to have been taking in a flurry of madness, mystical and deadly, linked to the psychosis of the cholera epidemic. The Haitian National Police (PNH) reports that at least 14 people "accused of imported cholera in the region have been killed with machetes, stones and the corpses were burned in the street." In Jérémie 3 people were lynched and 6 in the town of Chambellan and 5 others to Dame-Marie and Marfranc.

According to Kesner Numa in charge of the investigation "These people are accused of witchcraft related to cholera. According to the crowd, they have sown a substance that spreads the disease in the region". According to the representative of justice, the investigation will be difficult "because the population refuses any collaboration with justice, because she truly believes that witches are killing by taking advantage of the cholera epidemic".

A terrible tragedy that shows that beyond information campaigns inefficient, of government, it much remains to be done, before that the ignorance of the people in front of this epidemic, cause more deaths.
