Haiti - NOTICE : Use restriction for the bridge Dumarsais Estimé

Jacques Evelt Éveillard, Minister of Public Works, informs the general population and carrier in particular, that due to the degradation of the bridge Dumarais Estimé, located at the entrance of the city of Jérémie on the axis Cayes-Jérémie (RN7), he is obliged to take restrictive measures on the use of this bridge.

As of October 10, 2016, the date of this NOTICE, is prohibited :

Vehicular traffic at the same time, in both directions;

Circulation of heavy trucks in convoy (it must not have more a heavy vehicle at the same time on the bridge);

Traffic over 25 km per hour;

The passage of semi-trailer on the bridge (trailers) carrying heavy gear weighing more than 25 tons. For example maximum 400 bags of cement on a trailer or 5,000 gallons of petroleum products by truck.

It is recommended that all heavy transport exceeding over 25 tonnes is carried by barge.

The Ministry that has already launched a tender for the repair of the bridge, apologizes for the trouble these stringent provisions will cause the population and relies on the understanding of all to avoid an unfortunate accident.
