Haiti - Elections : The rehabilitation of the voting Centres will begin
Monday at the National Palace, the de facto President Jocelerme Privert, accompanied by the Prime Minister, Enex Jean-Charles, met with officials of public institutions around the very short term rehabilitation of voting Centres and school infrastructure in the departments affected by Hurricane Matthew.

Discussions focused in particular on the current work and future in the affected areas as well as the distribution of the project owner of the three public institutions. 166 voting Centres to be rehabilitated by the FAES, 43 by BMPAD and 31 by UCLBP, rehabilitation to be carried out in the coming days, failing to challenge the election of 20 November, according to a correspondence addressed to the CEP to Jocelerme Privert https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-19099-haiti-flash-the-election-date-becomes-uncertain.html This work involved a total of 240 voting Centres, some of which now serve as temporary shelters for the affected families, equivalent to 1,226 polling stations and 608,846 voters.

The President of the Republic stressed on the use in priority of local companies in the realization of this work. Several companies engaged by the project owners are already there and have already started the work (reconstruction of two schools in Camp-Perrin and Torbeck, and 6 more in the Nippes).

25 voting Centres have been completely destroyed including 16 schools. They will be replaced by tents and / or rebuilt completely.
