Haiti - Elections : Berlanger satisfied, preliminary results in 8 days...
Sunday in a press conference, Léopold Berlanger, awarded himself a good report for the smooth running of the electoral day "we can say bluntly that this day is a success for the country, this first stage is a victory of democracy [...] we have reached to reach the essential of our objectives that is to say the deployment of the electoral machine throughout the country, to more than 99% and with the temporary staff to carry out the elections.

It is only in the zone of Roseau where there are 2 voting centres where elections did not take place, these centers represented 10 polling stations [5,700 people], the weather conditions did not allow to cross a flooded river and the attempts to bring the material by helicopter could not succeed because of the wind [...]

At Vallières the elections started around 2:00 pm 2:30 pm there was the same problem, but finally the people arrived to cross the river... and an extension was given to close the vote later in the evening.

We note the full participation of the departments of the South, do not forget that we had to postpone the elections because of Matthew's passage on these departments [...]

[...] on the problem of people who have not found their name, it is a problem which is recurrent in the elections in Haiti... there are several factors that condition this situation, sometimes the people change addresses without taking care to ensure that they are on the appropriate list of electors. It may happen that the problem also is the CEP perhaps, when it has increased the the number of polling stations, or the number of voters, etc. Some people may have been displaced from polling stations, at which time the CEP must indicate that it has moved someone of polling station; It can be a responsibility of the CEP but also of the person [...] it is a very limited thing that is minimal but every citizen has a right to vote... we must address this problem s o that in the future this issue no longer exists

The CEP plans to give the preliminary result for the presidential maximum within 8 days [...]

We have reached a phase which is sensitive on the issue of results, it is clear that the CEP, that the electoral decree does not allow anyone to give results in place of the Council, we ask that this be respected, whether political parties, candidates, whether the other organizations in the society, whatever the sector, so we want you to respect what the electoral decree says [...] we know that the data that allow to build the results are available to all, they will be on the CEP website, in the polling stations [...] but these data are not the results. The results are a combination of data, data analysis, data evaluation and a compilation of the data and finally a decision that the CEP will publish, it's only that which is the result.

We are asking everyone to fully understand this, there are no results yet for elections regardless of the amount of data you have in hand, all data will be available, but these are not the results. The results are given by the Council."
