Haiti - Justice : Magistrature, Graduation of the promotion 2014-2016

Friday in the gardens of the School of Magistrates to Frères (Pétion ville), Camille Édouard Jr., Minister of Justice and Public Security attended the graduation ceremony of the promotion 2014-2016 named "Equitas" and handed their parchment to the 67 magistrates (33 women and 34 men) who successfully concluded 16 months of training.

Addressing the new magistrates, Minister Édouard stated "I rely on you, honorable magistrates, for the recovery and balance of the judicial through professionalism. I urge you to continue the efforts already made to improve the image of the Haitian judicial system. As much as the Haitian magistrates are worth, as worth the Haitian justice [...]

Justice is a cornerstone for the proper functioning of a society. Let us cultivate fair, impartial and effective justice. Corruption is the very negation of justice... Dear magistrates, your noble task requires scrupulous respect and strict interpretation of the law and above all a good conscience [...] it is up to you to decide with transparency and fairness in case of dispute."

The Minister concluded his remarks by asking them to keep in mind this quote from Martin Luther King "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
