The Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Albert Ramdin, traveled to Haiti on saturday to meet with President René Préval, following the missive sent by the Haitian leader to the OAS in order to resolve the post-election political crisis created after the publication of preliminary election results od November 28.

During his visit Ambassador Ramdin also had conversations with the various political and social actors, including the three presidential candidates, Mirlande Manigat, Jude Célestin and Michel Martelly and some parliamentary candidates. He also had discussions with officials of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), experts from the tabulation center, groups of civil society, private sector, the head of the joint observation commission OAS/CARICOM, Colin Granderson, Edmond Mulet head of Minustah and some resident ambassadors.

At 24 hours of the publication of final results of the first round, as enshrined in the electoral calendar, we still do not know [apart from the rumors] which will be the decision of the the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) after the request for postponement of publication, requested Friday by José Miguel Insulza, Secretary General of the OAS to President René Préval.
