Haiti - Elections : Congratulatory messages from Europe
European Union
Following the official confirmation of the election of the new President of Haiti, Jovenel Moïse https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-19698-haiti-presidential-2016-final-results-jovenel-moise-58th-president.html Federica Mogherini, the High Representative and Vice-President of the European Union, declared in an official note :

"I congratulate the elected President of Haiti, Jovenel Moïse, following the announcement by the Provisional Electoral Council of the final result of the presidential elections.

I am confident that under his presidency Haiti will benefit from the political stability and good governance that the country so badly needs. All political forces should now look to the future and work together for the well-being of the country and its people. It is urgent to face the many challenges in terms of the rule of law, citizen security, justice and respect for human rights, and to improve the living conditions of the population, aggravated by the devastating passage of hurricane Matthew.

The European Union is fully mobilized and will continue to support Haiti in all its efforts to redress [...]"

Statement by Mr Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Development :

"I warmly congratulate Mr Jovenel Moïse, whose election to the presidency of the Republic of Haiti has just been confirmed after a democratic electoral process.

[...] I hope that these definitive results will enable Haiti to emerge from the institutional crisis and to devote itself fully to the challenges that affect the daily life of the population.

With the publication of these results, the Haitian electoral process is successfully concluded, which will allow the democratic renovation of the Haitian institutions and the investiture of the democratically elected President.

The Spanish Government conveys its most cordial congratulations to the newly elected President of the Republic of Haiti, Jovenel Moïse, for his victory in the presidential elections and expresses its firm commitment to continue to work closely with the new Haitian authorities for democratic consolidation and economic and social development of Haiti [...]"
