Haiti - FLASH : Spanish arrested in Europe, soon transferred to Haiti

Thursday, 19 January, Antonio Salvador Garcia Piquer, a 60-year-old Spanish citizen accused of drug trafficking in Haiti, under international arrest warrant #00029 issued on 7 November 2016, by Judge Wando Saint-Villier of the Court of First Instance (TPI) of Croix-des-Bouquets was arrested in Spain.

Camille Junior Edouard, the Minister of Justice welcomed this arrest while announcing the beginning of the procedures of his TRANSFER for he to be handed over to the Haitian justice.

"The Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) informs the general public [...] that following an operation carried out within the framework of international cooperation in the fight against transnational organized crime, the Authorities of the Spanish Government apprehended today [Thursday] Antonio Salvador Garcia Piquer, a Spanish citizen accused of drug trafficking and against whom an international arrest warrant No. 00029 had been issued on 7 November 2016, by the investigating judge Wando Saint-Villier of the Court of First Instance of Croix-des-Bouquets.

The Ministry of Justice and Public Security takes the opportunity to thank the police authorities as well as the Spanish Government for the effectiveness of the inter-state cooperation which allowed the success of this operation carried out in collaboration with Interpol [...]"

An opportunity to see how long the procedures will take to extradite or transfer (as the case may be), this Spanish citizen. Probably a little more time than it took to extradite Senator Guy Phlippe from Haiti to the United States on January 5 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-19721-haiti-flash-senator-guy-philippe-extradited-to-the-usa.html
