Jovenel Moïse to the Bar of PAP

Tuesday, President-elect Jovenel Moise visited the Port-au-Prince Bar, where he met with the President Stanley Gaston, notably on the need to strengthen the institutions declaring "The strengthening of the justice sector is and remains one of my priorities. I visit the Bâtonnier, as well as his Council, of the Order of Advocates of Port-au-Prince, within the framework of the institutional strengthening [...] All the republican institutions are in crisis. We will be there, as President of the Republic, to guarantee their smooth running. This morning I come to tell the lawyers that I am ready to work for the strengthening of institutions, to provide solutions.

Bar President Stanley welcomed the visit of President Moïse, recalling that it is the first time in 150 years that the Bar has been visited by an elected President.

Rony Desroches in favor of an electoral reform

Rony Desroches, member of the Steering Committee of the Citizen Observatory for the Institutionalization of Democracy (OCID), calls on the various political actors, the executive and civil society to work towards reforming the electoral system and put in place the Permanent Electoral Council. He pleads in favor of a new delimitation of the communal sections and the setting in motion of the public action against the perpetrators of the acts of violence.

MOCHRENA calls for cancellation of elections...

An ASEC cartel of the communal section of Ravine Gros-Morne (department of Artibonite), registered under the banner of the Christian Movement for a new Haiti (MOCHRENA), demands to the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) the cancellation of elections in this locality by the fact that their cartel did not figure on the ballot papers.

Increase in deaths in prisons

Concerned about the increase in deaths in the prisons, Michel-Ange Gédéon, the Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) held an important meeting with the concerned actors. In this brainstorming session, the actors exposed the problem, identified the causes and proposed solutions to stop this dramatic situation.

Distribution of assistance for people with special needs

A team from the Office of the Secretary of State for the Integration of People with Disabilities (BSEIPH) recently registered some 20 disabled people in Gressier (West) and assessed their socio-economic situations. On this occasion, several of these people received adapted materials to meet their needs. This initiative is part of the mission of the BSEIPH to ensure the independence of people with special needs.
