Friday in Costa Rica, as part of the Championship Concacaf 2017, qualifying for the FIFA World Cup in South Korea, our Grenadiers U-20 barely recovered from their heavy defeat last Tuesday against the US [4-1], have been eliminated of the competition by Panama [3-1], a defeat that puts an end to the hopes of our national team to participate in the 2017 FIFA World Cup South Korea.

In the first half, on the lawn of "Stadio Ricardo Saprissa Ayama" Ricardo Avila of Panama opens the scoring against Haiti [1-0] to the 12' following a penalty awarded by the Honduran referee. Despite the expulsion of Yvenet Noël in the 20th minute, our Grenadiers forced to play to 10, thanks to a shot from Jonel Désiré in the 36th minutes restore the tie [1-1]. Score unchanged at halftime.

After the break our Grenadiers trying to show offensive but failed to break the defense. A second penalty converted by Ricardo Avila to the 73' '[2-1] (his double in the match) reduces a little more the chances of the Grenadiers to get their ticket. The expulsion of Stevenson Guillaume at 10 minutes from the end removed any possibility for the Grenadiers to regain control of the match.

The goal of Panamanian Leandro Avila Santamaria in the extra time 90' +12, definitely sounds the knell for our Grenadiers who bow [3-1] and exit through the small door...

The FHF considers truly frustrating that Haitian athletes in general, despite sacrifices in an environment of misery, can not for the reason of lack of support of their country that they represent, fully develop their qualities and their courage and do honor to Haiti on the international scene...
