Haiti - Politics : «The involvement of youth in Haitian politics» 01/03/2017 09:18:16 In addition to Senator Stephen, the Bureau had invited two other political actors: Youri Latortue, Speaker of the Senate and Deputy Jerry Tardieu (Petion-ville) , to share their ideas with the young people who did not fail to ask questions and to make suggestions. Speakers pledged to engage in an economic, social and political struggle to pass new laws, develop new strategies to enable young people who, according to them represent the future of the country, of live better with new opportunities. Still in order to orient the country towards other horizons and encourage young people to train themselves in order to take the political steps, a necessary step to any real change in a society, the speakers are committed to making this youth a new generation of leaders who will be able to say yes when it is necessary and not in the necessary case. And it is by investing in youth in the present that one can speak legitimately about its future [...]" Suggesting further in his speech "[...] we must reinvent the spaces of political socialization. To ensure that associations of diverse backgrounds, grassroots organizations and political parties are places of effective political modernity [...] It is because Haitian political space is taken in hostage by obscurantists that young people do not find themselves there. It is therefore necessary to gradually encourage the participation of the latter, so that they can give another dynamism to the management of public affairs. We must remove all the structural obstacles that prevent young people from participating without constraint in the management of the city. How can I ask a young person to have 5 years of experience if it has not been admitted to a job despite its inexperience ? Understand, my dear friends, that experience is not gained by dreaming, but by working. It is therefore necessary for our society to appreciate the need to integrate young people, despite their inexperience. As the old adage says : it is by forging that one becomes a blacksmith [...]" HL/ HaitiLibre
