Haiti - Politics : Pierre Marie Du Mény new Minister of Commerce
Strengthening quality control, finalizing industrial policy, drawing up a deployment plan for industrial micro-parks, implementing the common tariff and facilitating the full integration of Haiti into the regional market, constitutes, among other things, the roadmap that Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant sent to the new Prime Minister of Commerce and Industry (MCI) Pierre Marie Du Mény during installation by the Minister of Justice and public Security, Heidi Fortuné.

Addressing the officials and contractors ofMCI for the successful implementation of this roadmap, Minister Du Mény said "It is your responsibility to take ownership of this roadmap, and to help me to implement it as soon as possible. This is to enable the Ministry to fulfill its functions and missions in light of the government's commitments to Parliament," stressing that he will strive to restore vitality and visibility to the to Ministry.

"A plan to revitalize the Ministry will be drawn up, following a survey that will be carried out by a Commission that will take office tomorrow (Thursday). At the same time, the various directors and coordinators of projects and programs will be required to submit a comprehensive report on the situation of the various organizations, programs, directorates,units and project coordination," said the new Minister, adding that this decision was valid both for the Ministry and for its decentralized bodies.

The Minister promised to commit to strengthening quality control over food products by engaging in a merciless struggle against counterfeiting, adulterated products and alteration. He recognizes that many challenges will be faced in the areas of standardization and quality control. "The involvement of the different technical staff of the Ministry and of the various private sector stakeholders will be necessary for the creation of a inspectorate body called to be deployed the national territory."
