Haiti - Economy : Jovenel Moïse very interested in the Binational Project Quisqueya 27/03/2017 10:00:57 Recall that the CEBQ was formed by a committee of Business leaders from Haitian and Dominican private sectors to create sustainable development in the border area between the two countries, from 4 zones https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16078-haiti-economy-first-bilateral-investment-for-the-economic-development-of-the-border.html : Zone 1 will be an international zone of free trade as a special economic zone, where two cities (Dajabón and Ounamithe) will be the pivot, with the port of Manzanillo as a trading exchange platform. Zone 2 will be for production and agro-industry, with the creation of the transit routes for agricultural products. Zone 3 will be in charge of renewable energy storage and pumping, using the waters of the great lakes of the Caribbean, Enriquillo and Azuei Zone 4 will be a platform devoted particularly at international festivals and developing the tourism potential. The CEBQ works with the private sector and government agencies of the two countries and with members of the international community to achieve the creation of public-private partnerships. Fernando Capellan, President of Group M and businessman Juan Vicini, both CEBQ leaders for the Dominican Republic, explained the 4-zone border development project, which is expected to create 200,000 jobs over 10 years and how the CODEVI approach is most effective in addressing the problems of illegal migration between Haiti and the Dominican Republic. They also presented to President Moïse their social support program "Tita Tipa" or program of care and education to children. During his visit, President Moïse expressed his satisfaction and the positive impact that this free zone has generated in the city of Ouanaminthe, declaring that the Haitian Government will provide essential support for initiatives of this nature so that through Public-private partnerships can be developed more border areas as suggested by the CEBQ. During the visit of President Jovenel Moïse were present: Luma Demetrus, Mayor of Mayor of Ouanaminthe, Senator Pierre Wanique (North East), Dominican Senator Sonia Mateo (Dajabón), Ramona Rodriguez, Governor of Dajabón several members of the administration of the CODEV, as well as other Haitian and Dominican officials and authorities.
