Kély C. Bastien, the President of the Senate called Thursday for a constructive dialogue between all sectors to find a solution to the post-election crisis. "Nobody alone can solve the crisis [...] must take into account all actors, national and international", he said.

He announced the postponement for today Friday, of the Senate session originally scheduled Thursday because of the absence of opposition senators ... On the agenda: the reappointment of Charles Castel, the governor of the central bank, the record of the Banque Nationale de Credit (BNC), the law on responsible parenthood, and the record of the post-election crisis, noting that the Senate, on this last point, should have a clear position on this issue. He recalled that within the opposition, opinions differ on the continuation or not of the electoral process, hence the relevance of this issue.

Regarding the mandate of the Head of State, Senator Bastien recalled that the 1987 constitution is very clear about the term of the mandate of the Head of State and the notion of presidential vacancy. However, he tempered his remarks by stressing that what is legal is not necessarily legitimate.

Senator Jean Charles Moise, from the majority bloc, said he hoped that his opposition colleagues will attend this important meeting. The senator criticized the expert mission of the Organization of American States (OAS) that are currently involved in audits and recounts of minutes, stating that they "do not retain the Haitian electoral law as a compass in their work." He also claims to have warned President René Préval on the possibility of an electoral coup organized by experts from the OAS.

Two statements that are based very likely on a rumor circulating in Port-au-Prince, according to a diplomatic source [anonymous], OAS would have translated the electoral law just a week ago and secondly, according to this source, the OAS seeks to find the least risky solution, for the publication of final results from the first round.

About the OAS mission, the President of the Senate, wants that the light be shed around the methodology used by these foreigners, whose he says wait, however, an objective work.
