Haiti - Politics : Haitian-Cuban cooperation
Thursday, Aviol Fleurant, the Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, met with the Cuban Ambassador in Haiti, Luis Castillo Campos. Minister Fleurant reviewed the existing cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the fields of agriculture, medicine and fisheries.

He also took the opportunity to explain the framework for the post-Matthew recovery of the South Peninsula set out in his roadmap https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-20659-haiti-flash-roadmap-to-the-minister-of-planning.html In this plan includes housing and habitat construction, the construction of a fishing village in coastal areas, the establishment of community restaurants and school canteens, the revitalization of the agricultural sector and the drilling of wells.

Ambassador Luis Castillo Campo said he was very pleased with the meeting and promised to put Cuban expertise in fisheries at the service of the Haitian Government.

On the same day, Minister Fleurant met with the Ambassador of Germany accredited to Haiti, Manfred Auster. The two men discussed cooperation in the agricultural and health sectors, the restoration of turbines at the Péligre hydroelectric plant and various micro-projects.

Given that German cooperation is mainly active in the north of the country, the Minister informed the Ambassador of the Government's plan to develop the "blue economy" in the region from the exploitation of the resources of the sea by creating inter alia of fishing villages. Fleurant proposed that Germany support the development of this blue economy and agriculture in the North.

Ambassador Auster assured that he would consider the proposal and promised to consider the possibility of assisting the Haitian Government in this process.
