Haiti - FLASH : State Exams, several thousands of not validated candidates
Méniol Jeune, the Director General of the Ministry of Education, Renan Michel, the Director of the State Examination Office (BUNEXE), Maxime Mesilas, the Director of Secondary Education and Nadine Henry, the Director of the fundamental education, provided an update on the state of preparations for the holding of State examinations beginning on July 3 with the events of the 9th fundamental year and Examinations of Écoles Normales d'Instituteurs (ENI).

The validation of candidates for state exams has been central to this press conference.

Renan Michel announced that several thousand not validated candidates, will not be able to take part in these tests explaining that they are candidates who have not passed the tests of 9th fundamental year 4 years ago and of candidates that failed who enrolled in two schools at once...

The Director of BUNEXE denounces this practice in some schools which do not comply with the regulations and the legal procedures for enrollment in state examinations and in higher education.

The Director General Jeune is very firm on these frauds and announces that sanctions will be applied against those who affect the smooth running of the system and smear the image of the Haitian school. Emphasizing the importance and challenges of State examinations, he informed that all arrangements had been made to ensure the smooth running of the tests, he asked for the contribution of the entire educational community and the population for the successful completion of the official exams.

Schedule of State Examinations :
- Exams of the 9th fundamental year : from 3 to 5 July ;
- Exams of Écoles Normales d'Instituteurs (ENI) and of Centres d'Éducation Familiale (CEF) : from July 3 to 7 ;
- Bac Exams : from July 10 to 13 ;
- 2nd Special Session for thos taht failed : from 21 to 24 August ;
- Technical and Vocational Training Examinations (FTP) : from July 31 to August 5.

For the session of tos that failed in August, registration of candidates will take place during the period from 5 to 20 June.

It should be noted that, as of this year, the new candidates are completely separated from the candidates that failed due in particular to logistical problems in order to identify the examination centers meeting standards.

Finally, Maxime Mesilas and Nadine Henry provided details on the editing process of exam texts and the support that will be provided to candidates in order to help them better prepare their exams. These materials are available at the secondary and fundamental education to Nazon and on the Ministry website www.menfp.gouv.ht/mobile/
