Haiti - Politics : Tour of Moïse in the South

Saturday, President Moïse, accompanied by Southern Senators, François Sildor and Sorel Jacinthe, Fritz Cayot, Minister of Public Works (MTPTC), Mayors Gabriel Fortuné (Les Cayes) and Guildie Joseph (Torbeck) made a preparatory visit of the Caravan of Change in the South Department.

The Head of State visited several warehouses and garages of the CNE and of MTPTC in order to draw up an inventory of the various materials available for the caravan's actions.

While recalling that the reality of the South, in terms of the amount of arable land, is very different from that of Artibonite, the Mayors of Torbeck and of Les Cayes praised the many richness of the department in terms of tourism. They also announced a solidarity partnership between town councils, to facilitate the full exploitation of this potential as well as the development of the agricultural sector of the area.

Senators Sildor and Jacinthe stated that they had noted the amount of equipment available, broken or not used by the CNE and which could, if there is good management, be used to set up large-scale road infrastructures throughout the department. They also promised the accompaniment of Parliament in the steps taken by the Head of State to improve the living conditions of the Haitian population.

Several actions are already under way, including the start of construction of 5 km of road on National #7.

The Head of State reminded the holders of CNE trucks and equipment of the obligation made to them to return the property of the State in their possession as soon as possible. Permanence is thus decreed at the level of the Departmental Directorates of Public Works, Town Halls and Delegations, so that by the end of June all the equipment can be recovered, repaired and put back into service during the activities of the caravan.
