Haiti - Politics : Minimum wage, trade unions observe a 6-day truce 07/06/2017 09:18:27
Fignolé Saint Cyr, the Secretary General of the "Centrale Autonome des Travailleurs Haïtiens" (CATH) confirmed that the unions of the outsourcing had decided to grant an one-week truce starting on Monday, June 5, to give a chance to negotiations with the patronnat and the Government.
He pointed out that if the demands, notably an adjustment to the minimum wage of 300 Gdes per day and social enefits (food, transport, insurance, etc....) were not met, the mobilization and the means of pressures will resume on Monday 12 June.
On Monday, the first working session between the Senate Social Commissioners, the employers, the trade union and representatives of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, Minister Roosevelt Bellevue and the Director of Social Affairs, Rudy Hérivaux, ended in cacophony and confusion and no concrete decision has come out.
For its part, the organization "Konbit AYisyen pou Lojman Altènatif" (KAYLA) denounces the repression of the workers during the demonstrations and calls for a general mobilization against the the cost of living and unemployment...
