Haiti - Politics : Senate promises to help MJSAC

This week Régine Lamur, Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC), accompanied by her Director General, Mario Florvil, the technical directors of the Ministry and the members of his Cabinet, met for over 2 hours the Standing Senate Committee on "Education, Youth and Sport", chaired by Senator Dieupie Chérubin

Minister Lamur Lamur, after having explained to the senators her diagnosis of the Ministry, intervened on the challenges to be met in the sub-sectors: Youth, Sports and Civic Action as well as ways and means to meet the many expectations of young people and the sports movement Haitian. An improved training for our young athletes, support for federations and sports associations, and the rehabilitation of certain sports centers and infrastructures were discussed during these exchanges.

The members of the Commission invited Minister Lamur to work as soon as possible on the General States of Youth to arrive at a plan of operation of the sector and promised to help the ministry to have the financial resources to enable it to fulfill its mission. In this regard, the Commission is calling on the Minister to develop and submit as soon as possible a draft budget for the fiscal year 2017-2018 that takes into account major programs in the three subsectors of the Ministry.

The senators expressed their will to advocate to all sectors to have a much more systematic and lasting accompaniment of the Haitian youth.
