Haiti - USA : Brian Shukan Recognizes Haiti's Contribution to US Independence
As part of the Commemoration of the 241st anniversary of the Independence of the United States Brian Shukan the Chargé d'Affaires of the American Embassy in Haiti in his speech of circumstance declared :

"[...] Through this celebration tonight, we express our gratitude for the contributions that Haiti has made in the quest for the independence of the United States. During the 1779 battle in Savannah, more than 500 Haitians fought, and many of them lost their lives. We will never forget this sacrifice.

Just as Haiti has stood with the United States in the past, today the United States stands with Haiti for this new chapter in its history.

[...] Looking ahead, the United States is eager to continue working with the Haitian government and the international community to strengthen the rule of law in Haiti. Through the USAID Justice Sector Strengthening Program, we support the Haitian government in reforming penal codes, enhancing transparency, and in fighting corruption. We will also work closely with the new United Nations Mission for the Support of Justice in Haiti, Minusjusth, which, in addition to strengthening the capacity of the PNH, will help the Haitian government to strengthen the rule of law and to ensure respect for human rights for all Haitians.

Strong rule of law is essential for good governance and will foster an enabling environment that will attract investment to expand and stimulate economic growth.

In line with President Moïse's plans to improve the business climate, the United States is working with Haitian companies to attract investment and increase access to finance. The USAID LEAD project provides grants to strengthen investments in small and medium-sized enterprises, which since 2011 have already created more than 13,000 jobs [...]"
