Haiti - FLASH : Good news for Haitians in Tijuana
Since Monday, July 17 Haitians who come to or are in Tijuana (Baja California, Mexico) will no longer have to worry about transmitting their requests and receiving their documents issued by the Embassy of Haiti in Mexico which is at 3 hours of fly... With the permission of the Mexican Chancellery, an office located at # 1111 boulevard in the city of Tijuana is open to our compatriots who can now carry out all the consular formalities from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm all consular formalities such as passport, legalization of documents, proof of identity, mandate etc...

The office was inaugurated by the Ambassador of Haiti to Mexico Guy Lamothe and Ambassador Miguel Diaz, Director General of the Caribbean and Latin America of the Mexican Chancellery.

In the presence of Regional Migration Delegate Rudolph Figueroa, Honorary Consul of Haiti Enrique Watanabe Munoz, Secretary of Tijuana Town Hall, Ambassador Lamothe reiterated the Haitian Chancellery's desire to be close to its fellow citizens who are have arrived in Tijuana for almost a year for some, while providing them with a service that meets their aspirations as a new community that already enjoys the support of the federal and regional governments of Mexico and the State of Baja California.

The Haitians of Tijuana applauded the initiative to open a "oficina de tramites consulares" and already dream of a Haitian consulate in this border state of Mexico. In the presence of a strong Haitian community of at least 4,000 members, it will generate a whole series of requests from the latter.

According to the authorities of the city of Tijuana, more than 17 Haitian-Mexican children have been born in the past 7 months and we should expect in the medium term a growing demand for birth certificates, passports and information for all kinds of formalities...
