Haiti - FLASH : Details of the Trump administration's decision to offer 15,000 H2B visas

Following the announcement, the past week https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-21653-haiti-news-zapping.html of the Trump Administration's decision to offer an additional 15,000 temporary seasonal work visas (H2B) Robert Hannan, the US Consul General in Haiti, provided several clarifications :

These 15,000 visas available do not concern Haiti in particular, it is the total number available for the year for all countries "stressing that this is a very controlled process and that it is the employer based in the United States who must apply for the immigrant he wishes to hire and explain the merits of his choice."

Warning appliquants against scammers who ask to pay money for a work visa specifying "Under US law, it is the hiring man who must pay all the costs".

On the other hand, returning to applications for immigrant visas, tourist, student or others, Robert F. Hannan encourages all applicants to only take the legal path and warned against individuals who make false promises and misleading e-mail addresses and false accounts to extract money from visa applicants, underlining "the US Embassy never asks an applicant to give money to an individual or to transfer to an account the fees are only paid to the Sogexpress in person or directly to the Embassy," recalling that going through racketeers could permanently prohibit the applicant from entering the United States.
