Haiti - FLASH : 233 Haitian radio stations interfere in Dominican territory
At the technical meeting held last week between the Dominican National Telecommunications Institute (INDOTEL) and the National Telecommunications Council (CONATEL) http://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-21639-haiti-politics-interference-and-roaming-on-the-bilateral-agenda.html to discuss among other things the interference of Haitian radios on radio and television frequencies in the Dominican Republic, the Senator of Elías Piña, Adriano Sanchez Roa, presented a technical report on interference mainly in the border area, but also in other provinces that are not bound to the border.

The report reveals that 233 Haitian radio stations (43 stations in Dajabon, 10 in Monte Cristi, 62 in Independencia, 56 in Bahoruco, 27 in Barahona and 35 in Elías Piña) interfere and penetrate daily the Dominican border, pointing out "I must say that this thorough report demonstrates the gravity of the situation," recognizing that the Haitian authorities have indicated in their studies that the waves of 33 Dominican stations interfered on the Haitian territory.

Adriano Sanchez Roa underlined in these interferences on the Dominican territory, do not cease increasing with the years, quoting example the case of Villa Jaragua where in 2013, 27 Haitian stations interfered against 58 today...

Regarding mobile telephony, he pointed the finger at Digicel, which operates all along the Haitian border zone and whose interference would cause the roaming mode to be activated in the border provinces, affecting users by generating supplements as if it were an international call... while local calls.
