Haiti - Social : 3.000 Haitians repatriated since early January 25/01/2011 09:54:37
The Dominican Republic has again increased its troops and agents of the Immigration and continues to strengthen its immigration controls and tracking down smugglers [Haitians and Dominicans] who exploit our countrymen through organized networks. Sign of continuing tensions between Haiti and the Dominican population, the official urged the population of Santiago (particularly affected by mass immigration) to cease to have a threatening attitude towards the Haitians, and let the immigration authorities to act. Representatives of several neighborhood councils of Santiago confirmed to have arrived at an agreement with immigration officials, according to which the illegal Haitians will not be persecuted by the public until February 27 to give authorities the time to resolve the situation themselves. These perspectives are bleak for our fellow citizens, while in Haiti the situation is deteriorating day by day.
