Death of political activist Jean Pierre

On Thursday, political activist Jean Pierre aka "Jean Tatoune", a native of Jubilé a popular neighborhood of Gonaïves, is died at the age of 72, in a hospital center in Gonaïves. Jean Pierre had been actively involved in the struggle leading to the overthrow and departure of former Presidents Jean Claude Duvalier in 1986 and Jean Bertrand Aristide in 2004. Jean Tatoune had been sentenced to forced labor to perpetuity for his involvement in the Raboteau massacre in 1994, a massacre that had killed about 15 people. This conviction was annulled in 2005 by the Court of Cassation.
