Haiti - Cuba : Towards closer cooperation with Cuban University UNICA
On Monday morning, Cádiz University of Cáceres (CIC) of Ávila (UNICA) received a visit from Maxime Roumer, President of the Board of Directors of the New Grand Anse Foundation (FNGA) of Jérémie (Haiti). The purpose of his visit was to learn more about the functioning of this University and to see how to establish cooperation with the newly approved Honorary Chair of Studies "Los Haitianos en Cuba".

Roumer held a meeting with several leaders of the University including the Rector, Celín Pérez Nájera; the Vice-rector of research and post-university Dayamí Fonte Marrero; the Director of the Department of International Relations Elina Padrón; Silvia Álvarez, President of the "Los Haitianos in Cuba" Chair, as well as Aimé de los Angeles Martínez Fernández, delegate of the ICAP (Institute of Cubano de Amistad con los Pueblos) in the province.

During the exchanges, UNICA's product portfolio was presented in order to consider possible collaboration agreements.

Maxime Roumer expressed his keen interest in the work of the Honorary Chair, the first of its kind in a Cuban institution, and expressed his willingness to support the research and promotion of this chair, including the donation of bibliographic documents. He also stressed the need for universities to encourage new generations in food production, to strengthen their vocation for agricultural careers, saying "We have different hearts but similar problems".
