Haiti - FLASH : More than 300 Haitians arrested in DR with a false identity
As part of Operation "Shield", several times reinforced and still active since January 2015 along the Dominican border, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13067-haiti-security-operation-shield-more-than-22-000-troops-along-the-dominican-border.html the members of the CESFRONT (Cuerpo Especializado de Seguridad Fronteriza Terrestre) and the Dominican army have arrested over 300 Haitians in recent days in possession of fraudulent identification documents.

The various Brigades near the border have increased their vigilance and control, while at the same time providing support to the General Directorate of Migration, as more and more Haitians are trying to enter the Dominican territory by using identity documents stolen belonging to other people and/or falsified, including Dominican identity cards (Cédula).

In the most recent case at the "Las Caoba" checkpoint, a bus driven by Willi A. Pineda Meran transported 5 Haitians who had regularization cards of the National Regularization Plan for Outsiders (PNRE) whose biometric data after verification did not match to the holders of these cards that they had paid between 3,500 and 4,000 pesos, with the driver.

According to the Haitians, arrested at other checkpoints, the cards are delivered to the terminals of the transport companies, in the province of Dajabón. This illegal activity that develops in a very lucrative market where he demand of Haitians is constantly growing, has become the mode of operation of many Dominican drivers of passenger transport companies.

In recent months, several buses and mini-buses have been seized for trafficking of illegal immigrants, including on the roads of Las Matas-Mao, Dajabón-Las Matas and Amina-Santiago. Haitians and drivers were detained for legal consequences.
