Haiti - FLASH: Tuesday of demonstrations in the metropolitan area
Yesterday Monday Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant gave a press conference, in which he spoke of the violent protest of recent days https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-22440-haiti-security-police-represses-anti-government-demonstration.html , enmeshed by acts of violence, attacking the property of others, smashing vehicle windshields, angry protesters throwing stones at people and firing gas pumps, he reminded that these behaviors are not and can not be accepted or tolerated.

He recalled that justice will prosecute all offenders, and urged the judicial branch to crack down on troublemakers.

The PM asserted that the current government will not let a group of people take the country in hostage, and informed that instructions have been given to the National Police of Haiti (PNH) to accompany any organized demonstrations following the prescribed by law.

Let's recall that on October 17 Jean Charles Moïse the leader of the platform of the radical opposition "Pitit Desalin" present at this demonstration confirmed that he was there to demand the departure of the Head of State "I am not on the concrete for something else. I am coming back from the North and the South, the whole country is demanding his departure because he has not listened to the demands of the masses." https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-22440-haiti-security-police-represses-anti-government-demonstration.html

While leaders and political activists of the political organization Fanmi Lavalas, including Schiller Louidor and the Deputy Printemps Bélizaire have reaffirmed their firm determination to overthrow Jovenel Moïse.

This Tuesday, October 24 is planned a new demonstration of the opposition against the power in place, to demand the departure of the head of state, to protest against the budget... For his part Heidi Fortuné, the Minister of Justice informs that he will try to curb all acts and violent incidents that will occur during this day, and calls the demonstrators to respect the place of assembly under pain of sanctions.

Frantz Lerebours, the PNH spokesman said "The police will react according to what the law provides."
