Haiti - DR : Seizure of 141 passports

Last week, the General Directorate of Immigration (DGM) of the Dominican Republic seized more than a hundred fake cards and other amended documents in Santiago and Dajabón.

The DGM informed of the seizure of 162 falsified cards and 364 copies of the National Plan for the Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE), as well as 141 foreign passports (mainly Haitian), 67 Dominican cedulas and 51 authentic ones in possession of other persons.

The DGM informed that the documents were seized during immigration interdiction operations organized by the Director General of Migration, the Lieutenant General (ER), Máximo William Muñoz Delgado, carried out in the National District and the Greater Santo-Domingo, using readers and consulting the institution's database.

The institution's report indicates that 152 other corrupted documents were seized last week, including 116 in Dajabón, while in Santiago, 36 cards of PNRE were confiscated, 10 passports with irregularities and 2 student cards. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-22708-haiti-pnre-false-cards-more-than-a-hundred-haitians-will-be-expelled.html

In accordance with the provisions of Law 285-04 on migration, in these cases, the cardholder is expelled because it is irregular in the country and makes an identity theft.

In regards to the card holder, it is excluded from the National Plan for the regularization of foreigners (PNRE) and the resulting eviction, provided that there is no evidence of the existence of a complaint before the theft of the document before the corresponding instance.

In addition, an investigation is still open with other state security agencies to identify those responsible for falsifying documents for subsequent submission to the courts.
