In the context of the Monday of the ress Marie Greta Roy Clément, the Minister of Public Health and Population gave an update on the Ministry, current activities and prospects.

The Minister Clément previously explained that with 25 central directorates and 10 departmental directorates, his ministry was part of the state institutions without deconcentrated directorates under his tutelage, specifying "of the 1,048 health institutions in the country, 37% are institutions public. The Ministry counts 434 dispensaries and 122 hospitals and has a budget of 6.14 billion gourdes, that is 4.3% of the national budget (1.42 billion for the operation and 4.71 billion for the investments)."

She said that last March, the Ministry had 9,495 employees and 2,637 contractors or 12,132 public officials in total and the recovery measures had recovered more than 23 million gourdes. Stressing that 3,629 service providers (doctors, nurses, pharmacists...) had already benefited from an upward adjustment of their salary.

Regarding the actions carried out the Minister mentioned :

• The appointment of doctors trained in Haiti and abroad, of Health Officers, Community Health Workers to improve the supply of care in the country.

• The relaunch of the Public Hygiene Service https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-22662-haiti-health-relaunch-of-the-public-hygiene-service.html in all departments.

• The Restructuring Commission for the National Ambulance Center (CAN) has taken steps to help this institution better serve the population. Since October, the Department has launched a staff evaluation process to restructure CAN services. A new location located in Cité Militaire has been targeted to house the CAN headquarters.

• Finally she recalled that the national meeting; national health accounts; the Haitian Summit on Mental Health; sectoral health table; the launch of the public health service; the revival of the national ambulance center... are among the achievements of his Ministry.

Regarding future actions the Minister announced that strategies will be adopted to strengthen the Community Health program, eliminate cholera, diphtheria and increase the country's immunization coverage; infrastructure works consisting of the finalization of the construction and rehabilitation of health centers across the country are also envisaged. The Ministry also intends to build health centers and to appoint qualified and competent staff for better management.

Finally, she announced that public health officials will be deployed throughout the country, particularly in markets, hospitals and hotels.
