Haiti - Economy : Jovenel Moïse met the MEDEF
Yesterday Monday in Paris, the President of the Republic, Jovenel Moïse, accompanied by a large delegation of Haitian entrepreneurs, had a working meeting with the France-Central America Caribbean CEOs Board co-chaired by Mr. Jean Philippe Thenoz representative of the France Central America and Caribbean of MEDEF International Central Director Group Business Development as well as Paul Olivier Vice President of the France Central America and Caribbean Council of MEDEF International Director of Development Soget.

Intervening on this occasion, Mr. Jean Philippe Thenoz has located the challenges of this meeting which aims, according to him, to further strengthen French investments in Haiti. He presented for the Haitian delegation all the companies present at this event, companies that, according to him, carry projects and are eager to strengthen their presence in Haiti.

For his part, the Head of State congratulated the members of the Haitian private sector who accompany him to Paris and who took part in this meeting with their counterparts of MEDEF. President Jovenel Moïse praised the relevance of the exchanges and the future prospects that have emerged.

During his speech the President of the Republic also recalled the priority sectors of his administration which are the control of surface water, Energy, Environment, agro-industry, tourism, livestock, textile and urban development.

Investing in Haiti, as everywhere else, requires prerequisites, in this sense, the Head of State pointed out that Haiti has just promulgated a set of laws to improve the business climate, facilitate trade and comply with standards international. Many bills, agreements and conventions, including the EPA are under consideration in Parliament. With regard to the EPA, the President indicated that the Haitian Affairs sector is in favor of adopting this text with certain accommodations.

The Head of State emphasized a number of incentives offered by the Haitian State to attract investors in these sectors, among which we can mention:

- The possibility of total exemption from income tax for a period of 15 consecutive years;

- The possibility of obtaining a customs and tax exemption on imports of equipment and materials necessary for the establishment and operation of the enterprise;

- The possibility of exemption from taxes on the payroll;

In this vision and projects that Jovenel Moïse presented to the business leaders France-Central America Caribbean of MEDEF International, it is clear that the Haitian government with the new leadership advocates the public-private partnership, the Build Operate and Transfer (BOT), the concessions, which are, in addition to the classic investments of the opportunities win-win for foreign companies and for Haiti.

In conclusion, the President of the Republic of Haiti reiterated his will to work relentlessly to attract foreign direct investment in Haiti and invited the members of the MEDEF to make a prospection visit to Haiti. He mentioned that the Center for Investment Facilitation (CFI) will be there to welcome potential investors and facilitate their approach.
