The rehabilitation of the main runway of Toussaint Louverture airport has resumed in recent weeks, after a break of almost a year. Remember that this important market won in 2015 by the consortium V & F Construction, a company of the Jean Vorbe Group and the French construction company Razel, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14377-haiti-reconstruction-rehabilitation-of-runway-10-28-of-the-toussaint-louverture-airport.html which was to end during the first quarter of 2017, had been suspended at the end of 2016 by the Haitian State (prime contractor) and the works unfinished...

However, the contract has not been modified and the work to be done or completed remains the same as that set in the specifications and concerns runway 10-28, the traffic lane close to the terminal and the access ramps.

The landing and take-off runway 10-28 whose the dimensions of which before the work was 3.06 km long and 42.75 meters wide, was to widen by 60 meters, with the construction of two shoulders of 8,62 meters on each side. The traffic lane which channels the traffic to the terminal, 23 meters wide, before the work was to extend over 44 meters by adding two shoulders of 10.5 meters each. As for the access ramps, 300 meters long, they had to be fully rehabilitated, given their poor condition.

As in 2016, the work is conducted exclusively at night between 8:30 pm and before 6:00 am to take into account the air traffic during the day.

The work will take about 3 months to complete. It should be noted, however, that work on the earthworks, necessitated by the shoulders, had already been carried out before the stop. Several hundred cubic meters of material had also been excavated. The same is true of the earth movement and the stripping which had brought a volume of 738,000m3 of excavated material.
